Ohmite Manufacturing strengthens their heat sink resistor line with the introduction of the TCH35 and TAH20 Series TO220-style resistors. Both of these non-inductive resistors offer effective control over voltage transients in snubber applications which make them ideal for switching power supplies, high frequency applications, and pulse loading. When properly heat sinked, the TCH35 provides up to 35 Watts of power while the TAH20 delivers up to 20 Watts. Standard and custom resistance values are available from 0.05 ohm to 10K ohm for the TAH20 Series and 0.1 ohm to 10K ohm for the TCH35 Series. Standard lead forms are provided for easy assembly and the molded case provides environmental protection for the resistor element.

Ohmite's TCH35 TO220 was built under proprietary processes that deliver 75% more power handling capability than other TO220 of similar size. This series was designed for intermediate power applications, providing 35 watts of steady state power when properly used in todays well defined heat sink applications. A single screw mounting tab helps simplify assembly and should be accompanied by the use of a thermal compound.

Generally, heat sink systems operating below 150°C rely on conduction and convection as the primary means of heat removal. The TCH35 Series offers a low thermal resistance to the heat sink of <4.28°C/W to support conduction efficiency and helps define heat sink cooling requirements. The TAH20 offers a low thermal resistance of 6.25°C/W.
