Ohmite Manufacturing enhances their thick film resistor line with their new TL Series. The TL Series combines thick film on alumina substrate technology with the thermal transfer efficiency of aluminum to provide reliable, heat sinkable power resistors. This proprietary packaging technique utilizes modular high-temperature plastic insulators and spring pressure to provide a stable and efficient thermal contact between the substrate and the aluminum profile. The resistor element is electrically isolated from the aluminum profile and terminated with quick-connect terminals.

Standard packages are provided in a two terminal configuration with power ratings from 35 to 275 watts. Resistance values range from .3 ohm to 4 megaohms, where stock values are offered from 0.5 ohm to 2,200 ohms in standard 10% tolerance. Special tapped configurations are also available to simplify voltage divider and multiple capacitor bleeder applications. The TL Series simplifies assembly over bulkier MIL-R-18546 style aluminum housings because of its profile symmetry and use of quick-connect terminals. Works well with most thermal compounds for mounting to the heat sink.

Their low profile, expanded power capabilities, very low inductance, and small size make them ideal for power supplies, balancing high frequency power switching, pre-loads, snubber, in-rush current limiting, and frequency converters.
