New 'Power SIP' Available From Ohmite

Photo

Combining high power, low inductance and unique end terminals, the new TN Series Power SIP resistor from Ohmite's hybrid manufacturing meets growing market demands for versatile, high performance resistors.

This engineered SIP is capable of 20 watts total dissipation spread uniformly over 3 to 16 resistor elements. The resistors are printed on both sides of the substrate to maximize the area available for each resistor, to minimize heat rise and to permit operation below 350°C hot spot temperatures.

Individual resistors within the SIP can be provided in common or isolated configurations and are connected to industry standard edge pins for sturdy mounting. These stabilizing end terminals provide a high degree of rigidity to the package and minimize the undesirable bending which commonly occurs in other large SIPs. Tube packaging is also available for lead protection during handling and automated assembly processes.

The SIP is available in the full range of resistance values from 0.25 ohm to 60K ohm. The resistors can be laser trimmed to 1% tolerance and resistor matching available to .1%.

Because it combines high power, low inductance and closely matched resistor values, Ohmite's new 'Power SIP' is ideally suited for paralleling active semiconductors as a source or emitter ballast resistor. To accommodate a wide variety of applications, the array may contain any ratio of resistors to connections as long as the total power need is under 20 watts, is spread evenly over the resistors, and requires 18 or fewer terminals.
