Non-inductive power resistors for high-frequency and pulse-load applications

ARCOL Resistors has announced the FPA600 thick-film power resistor which is manufactured using innovative, printed metal-oxide resistance film to maximise the pulse handling characteristics. The power dissipation of the FPA600 is 600W and it can withstand a short-term overload of 1kW for 10 seconds. Applications include traction; snubber; inverters/converters; variable speed drives; robotics; and motor control. A special feature is a partial discharge of 4Kvrms <10 pc up to 7kV. The operating temperature range is -55°C to +150°C. The packaging incorporates standard fixing centres for this type of product and the design is vibration-proof. The FPA power resistors are RoHS compliant and are designed for easy assembly. They are suitable for liquid or air-cooled systems. The resistance range is R5 to 1M and the tolerance options are ±5% or ±10%. The TCR options are ±150ppm/°C. The maximum voltage is 5000Vdc and the dielectric strength is 12000Vdc. The FPA series is available on short lead times – contact ARCOL Resistors sales department for more details.
